Oh that makes bit more since, some of the components would have been more expensive then, and i was curious about the gpu.. i mean the 580's are all the rage now lol. it should last you quite some time.

I agree! But I just wanted to futureproof as much as humanly possible...
at the time this was the only board with USB 3.0 and SATA 6gb/s (in which I found out the Marvel controller sucks after getting it). The only one other then this was SR-2 by EVGA.

I wanted plenty of PCI slots for freedom.

And I just wanted bragging rights I guess :-)
