This is essentially my point, the OP has more or less admitted that this is a completely frivolous upgrade he doesn't need (essentially he wants to increase his e-peen). What's the point in niggling about price vs performance, we may as well just ask for a budget and recommend the most impressive card or combination of cards he can afford!

Oh, didn't notice.

OP, get GTX 590 SLI.

If you aren't getting poor performance in your games, I'd hold off until the next wave of cards near the end of the year (or sometime around then). By then there will be more games using DX11 and an upgrade will probably be worth it. Until then, stick with what you have.

Thread Starter
I'm not looking to increase my e-peen, really.
More or less I'm looking for a change. I guess I'm a little tired of looking at the same hardware for 3 years.
Not to mention that I'd like to jump on the DirectX 11 bandwagon after skipping the 400 series.

By the way, I'm not really interested in SLI if I'm buying a brand new card. For me it's either single, brand new 400/500 series card or SLI 260s. I had a 580 for short time and having it so close to my 260 wasn't very fun.
I suppose I'm not against ATI either, but I'd really like a card to match my color scheme and have a lifetime warranty (which only XFX has for ATI cards, I believe).
I have OCD about that, sorry.

i absolutely agree....
its not the performance that matters the most but the price u r paying to get that performance.....
imo, right now the best price to performance card is the hd6950....

gtx 560ti is currently the best vfm card from nvidia...

and gtx 460/hd5850/6850 r also gud options but at lower segment.......

and if price no bar then go ahead buy whatever ur pocket allows u...like gtx 590/hd6990.......

I would get either a GTX 480/GTX 580 if i were you. I wouldn't get another GTX 260 since its still dx10 unless you could find one for around $60 i suppose.

Okay, then. From what I'm seeing the color scheme you're going for is mostly black, no?

I'd say go for the EVGA GTX 570, but don't go crazy on the voltage. It'll be very close in performance to the 580 while costing a lot less. Since you're not gonna SLI/CF, I think this is the best choice.

I'm not gonna make any mention of the XFX Radeon HD 6950 2GB because, well, it's XFX: they suck.

Its the Highest end Single GPU card on the market.... it will handle anything you really throw at it.... Bang for your buck would be a unlock 6950. A 580 is a great card, don't go around trashing it.
