Hi everyone,

I'm debating between the two headscratch.gif
  • Powercolor is about $70 CAD cheaper than XFX.
  • Both offer warranty on "OC switch
  • Powercolor offers 3 years warranty
  • XFX offers double lifetime warranty
  • XFX is modder friendly (can add waterblock)
  • I will be watercooling

If anyone can provide some insight between the two especially about the RMA experiences between both companies, it would be appreciated redface.gif

I've only ever had issues with XFX (8500GT dieing not long after warranty ended, had a crappy 4770 and 5850 with cut down PCB, both overclock badly, wouldn't accept an RMA of a 5970 because of a half inch long hair sized scratch on the back plate). I ran two 4770's in Xfire a while ago and both are still running fine, good make.

XFX has one of the best and easiest RMA process I've ever gone through and I would personally pick XFX over Powercolor any day.

you will most likly hear about hwo bad xfx customer service is but for me all my returns were flawless with no issues i had a hd4890 for a year when the fan went out returned it they sent me another 4890 that one lasted 3 months before i started rto get games to crash on me sent back and they sent me a hd6850 so far so good i will only buy xfx video cards just because of the double lifetime warrenty saved me a lot of money already.
go xfx you will not be dissapointed...

Powercolor over xfx any day. I had a 4870 from them that overlooked to like 850mhz. Never had an xfx card that overclocked well. Also, all that double lifetime warranty stuff is a gimmick. Good companies don't need lifetime warranties. Don't be a full. Pocket the extra cash for bulldozer.

Any company won't know you overclocked it unless you tell them.

XFX has made questionable ethical choices in the past year, a search even on these forums will show it easily enough.

I've only had one PowerColor card, a 5870, and had to RMA it a year after use, and it was replaced quickly (though it did get a few days for the RMA request to be approved). Turnaround time was 10 calendar days from Canada.

Do you plan to watercool the card? If you did have to RMA the PowerColor card, I'd simply stick the original cooler back on and ship it out. Unless they put little stickers in their screws like XFX does, how will they know you replaced the cooler? A job well done won't leave any mark.

For the 70$ savings, I'd go with PowerColor as I upgrade my GPU every 2-3 years anyway.
