Just get the SSD and use the F3 normally.

No reason to even get an SSD.

the only problem being that once you've been fast, you'll want to go faster

i.e. I now want a Vertex3

My planned upcoming build I plan to be nuclear overkill... vertex3 120 for OS... 2 intel SSDs in raid0 for my steam games and want to do 3 samsung F3s for Raid5(storage and games)... XD

DO IT!! I love my Samsung F3 RAID 0 for a storage drive:

Definitely make sure to have a backup image drive though. I use DriveImage XML and image it to an F4 2TB I have in an external enclosure about once a week.

Alright so I got my second Samsung F3 and am in the process of setting up the RAID0. However, I can't boot into Windows (BSOD). I'm still trying to boot off the current boot drive obviously because I don't want to use the RAID0 array for that since I'll be getting the SSD.

Anyone care to help? I'm on the ICH10R Southbridge. Thank you.

Boot from your windows cd. setup raid 0 from windows if you cant from bios. Gigabyte sets up in bios. Not sure what you have to do with an asus board.

I had this same problem setting up my RAID array for the first time. Windows probably doesn't have the correct drivers installed to boot with the drive in RAID mode.

I don't know if your motherboard can do this, but what I had to do was move my boot drive to eSATA port 5. My motherboard allows me to have IDE enabled for eSATA 5-6, while having RAID on 1-4.

Once I was able to boot since my boot drive was back in IDE, the drivers for RAID successfully installed and I was able to plug the boot drive into any eSATA port at this point. However, I ended up leaving it in IDE on 5 so I could get the S.M.A.R.T. info on the disk.

Okay thanks.

Alright, here's what I'm coming up against right now:

I have it set to AHCI in BIOS, not RAID (I got 3 choices - IDE, RAID, AHCI). However, I did configure RAID0 for those two drives when I was in RAID mode.
When I go into Disk Management in Windows after I installed the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, I can clearly see one drive listed as 1863.02GB which would be the two F3s. Should I just go ahead and format that thing?
