Looking for an "stylish" Apple gaming laptop... - Page 2

Thread Starter
That reminds me! Can't you install OSX on some Intel machines? If so, couldn't I simply buy a laptop and put OSX on it?

I can try to compromise on the style, but I'm not sure it's going to go anywhere.

As idiotic as this may sound -- and boy does it -- but is it possible to fit a laptop into a MacBook shell? If so, I could try to purchase a laptop and replace it with Apple shell.

*sigh* Sometimes I hate how Apple has influenced today's minds. A Macbook Pro with the second-best/best specs would be good enough I suppose. But, as the others have stated, it probably wont work out and its MUCH better off getting a Windows laptop.

Also, I'm looking through Apple's laptop selection (MacBook pro) and you can't pick out a different GPU? The only laptop that's affordable enough ($1100) to possibly add a GPU are the two 13" ones...but they don't let you change GPU! If I bought one of them, could I add a GPU to it? They come with integrated graphics.
Those available GPUs from Apple do suck. The replacing a non-integrated GPU is possible, tricky, and there is still no uniformity in MXM designs. Its 500$ for a high end GPU pulled out of another laptop and no guarantee it will work.

You can't replace a integrated GPU, its integrated. These motherboard/logicboards from Apple do not have a physical connection for a GPU.

Theres a lot of requirements for that, for starters you have to pray to god you find a wireless card that works. Its illegal to discuss installing Mac on a PC, but that should at least dissuade you from doing it. Its more of a custom built desktop thing.

In regards to the original question, the stylish gaming laptops would be the Clevos P150HM or (if possible) the Barebone version of the GX640 (not the original GX640).

The Clevo is an excellent gaming laptop, but poor battery life, the GX640 has better battery life (although not great). HP Envys are good, but the trackpad just sucks.

I hate to break it to your friend, but its highly improbable to get a Apple laptop in his budget that is enough for his gaming need.

He's willing to spend $1500-1700 and would like a dual boot for some things (Office 2010, Skype, Ventrilo, etc.)

I'm about to cruise around Ben's Bargains, Slickdeals, etc for deals but wanted your input as well.

He's mostly into World of Warcraft, Black Cops , and NBA 2K11.

Also, preferably Intel and GeForce (I don't think Apple even sells AMD/Radeon...but have to make sure).

EDIT Edited title to say "stylish" because that's somehow near the top of the priorities for a computer my friend is buying at his girlfriend's insistence.
What about the HP envy series? Those could be considered "stylish"

lol what no its not, may be against this forums TOS and the TOS of apple but its definitely not illegal.

I'm still not convinced this is not a troll thread. Tell your friend to stop being a chump.
