This processor is getting hot.

Let it die. It's not worth trying to save. Seriously. That CPU might as well burn. It's worth a whole one dollar at best. Since the Core 2 Duo line was produced, the P4 line is useless... let it die.

How are you reading those temps? Sometimes BIOS is off. P4s get hella hot and run fine.

They didn't get the name Presshot for nothing, but you may be overdoing it with the paste. Use as little as possible.

Something's definitely off. I'm using more than stock cooling, but consider that I'm also overvolting/overclocking it. It's also a Cedar Mill, but that's still a Prescott core, and this is under Intel Burn Test load.

Therefore, Prescott or not, something's off if it's ~73C near idle. They can run hot, but that seems off.

Through Speedfan, because coretemp doesn't support this cpu.

But i don't think the BIOS is off because with my other 775 cpu it idles at 40'C

And i know the Prescotts get damn hot but the max temp for this proc is 67'C
