Pentium 4 s775 Prescott 550 Temp Issues - Page 2

Download HW Monitor or AIDA64 (previously Everest) and check with those. In my experience, I've gotten funny results with Speedfan at times.

While were at it lets euthanize the old, since the younger generation is here on earth

Therefore, Prescott or not, something's off if it's ~73C near idle. They can run hot, but that seems off.
his is not @ idle, it's under normal use......but you'll be suprised how much cpu usage you get durring flash based apps, not to mention if he is running onboard graphics......also you have a 65nm cpu, he has a 90nm cpu......BIG difference in temps and 90nm cpus usually run on 1.5v by default which is also more than yours

True, it's not apples to apples comparison, but if mine overclocked is like that under Intel Burn Test, I still figure the OP's shouldn't be much higher at idle or light use. That seems a bit too high, Prescott or not.

You are right though, Flash can be CPU intensive and make some older Pentium 4s slow down a bit. If that's a load temperature on stock cooling, then yeah, that's not much to worry about. If it's idle or pretty light use, then I say something's up.
