20131128_183816.jpg 2626k .jpg file First computer I have ever owned. Just got it fired up about a month ago. Gonna re-config this setup to a cascade after the first of the year. Gonna have a new evap that extends to the gpu, and north and south bridge. Trying to learn as I go so mostly late night research. My goal is to be in the 5+ghz range but I'm not familiar with changing bios very much. Got to 4.8ghz stable with max temp of 29c running p95

I am finally going to get around and try to install the cooler express unit that has been sitting in my garage (forever it seems). It is a dual head, and I am wondering if it can be modded just for a single head as I won't be using it for the gpu. Is sdumper still around this forum? Any advice would be appreciated.

So any updates on your options with that dual evap set up?

I have been out of the loop (no pun intended ... tongue.gif) due to holiday festivities and some vacation travels. Just getting back into it, and finally ordered all the crap; neoprene, dielectric grease , kneaded eraser, and conformol coating. That sdumper fella never got back to me, but I think using one evap head for a 3-4 hour benching session should be fine. I remember seeing Electroeng's old post with the same question on another forum, and sdumper told him that it would be fine for short benching session. I will let you know how it goes. What's the worse that can happen at this point? I will get some experimental use out of the unit I bought months ago...Lol

What are you gonna be freezing? the chip in your sig?

you doing the conformol coating I was thinking of using liquid electrical tape hoping it will peal off real easy.
I am not sure if it will actually hurt the machine but I believe from talking to sdumber about it myself a while back and from memory the coolant will go towards the evap with less/no heat load. You may need to heat the second evap with a gpu or artificial load.

I have a couple of 3930ks and a couple of rive's. I will most likely dedicate one of each to phase cooling to use as a benching rig only. And, keep the other as part of my primary rig. I might even pick up a 4930k for the phase cooling rig, since ivy-e scales better with extreme cold, but not so much with water cooling.
I know that, earlier you had mentioned the same about coolant going to the evap with less heat, in one of our correspondence. It does sound logical. My plan is to first try it as is, and not do anything to the second evap at all. If the cooling is not adequate over a 3-4 hour benching session, then I will resort to some other creative measures to get to where I want to be from a temp perspective. Thanks for the suggestion though. thumb.gif

Question! Does this type of cooling help prevent artifacts on overclocking the GPU?
