Lapped my CPU

Hey guys,

Well I lapped my CPU and I thought it would be nice to show you all, I started off with 600 grit and moved all the way up to 2500 grit.

These are some in progress pictures and the final result.

I would have used image shack but it was messing up on me. Got 4c on load off my temps doing this. After my thermal paste has settled they went back up to 75c.

I know it's not perfect but i'm happy with the results

Looks good. Nice job. I don't bother to lap anymore because i feel it drops the resale value, but in terms of a job well done, i'd say you did well hehe .

I hope it drops your temps accordingly!

As you said - not a perfect job, but nice job anyway ..

I really dont dare to lap my beloved chip .. how do you have the nerve?

I tried this on my Core 2 Duo E8400, but either it was just wacky with the sensors (as the early Wolfdales were known to be) and/or ran hot, so it didn't do much in my case, but I guess it was fun to try at least once. Mine came out about as yours did, that is, far from perfect. I told myself "I have to have one shiny CPU". I wouldn't do it anymore though.

Did you also do this to the heatsink? That's supposed to be how you get the best results.

I've seen a drop of 4c - 5c so it was worth it imo

I'm going to be watercooling soon so I'll lap my waterblock later , still got a nice drop without lapping the HSF
