lol Almost every single moder ngames uses vertical FOV. That's why 16:9 sees more than 16:10

well i have no idea what COD is then, but this mouse calc was created by a CS 1.6 player so i know FOV is horizontal.

Youll have to find the needed conversion for vertical to horizontal.

Here:

http://www.rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfb...calculator.php

Just know your going backwards so it might have to use some trial and error to dial in on you fov settings.

Personally I find 2000DPI * .25 windows ratio to feel different than 500 * 1 windows ratio when technically in terms of sensitivity, they should feel the same. I personally like the latter, it feels more precise and mouserecorder says that at 2000DPI and .25 windows ratio im getting interpolation and not 1:1 so...

CS 1.6 uses horizontal FOV of course, but is this calculator using that?

In any case, anything above 700DPI Will not make ANY difference for my resolution and sensitivity.

Webpage/Calculator was created by a Source player. Injx's formula works on any quake based engine including COD.

FoV is default at 90 because you can't change this in Counterstrike.

At 1920 pixels wide, and that sensitivity, the useful DPI is only 331.

TBH anything over 1000 DPI is mostly useless even for high sens players.

@ 1000DPI, 6/11 windows, 2.5 in game @ 1920px -> useful dpi is only 921 DPI

Unless you literally like doing a 360 my moving your mouse 1/2 an inch (in which case i guarantee you will never be good at an FPS game.) anything over 1000 DPI or so is likely overkill.
You forgot to factor in that not all weapons have the same FOV. Take the AWP for instance lol (30 FOV on 2nd click? only a guesstimate =>)

Also not everyone uses thier arm to move. Wrist based players are going to require much more than 1000 DPI at high resolutions.

@ 1920x1080, I'm going to have to agree that 1800 DPI is a very nice sweet spot indeed, but it shouldn't really matter out of an FPS environment.

Since you play SC2, you shouldint really worry about a calculator and formula created for a 3D environment. Just use whatever you feel best with.

Yea i dunno i've always used 1.0 zoom sens ratio since like cs 1.3. Never worried about 2nd zoom on awp because its so rarely used at if im scoped that far chances are the players body is gonna take up 75% of my xhair anyways. My config hasn't really changed much over the years, just dpi/ingame sens as ive needed.

I tried the whole wrist thing higher sens... i do not understand how people play with such high dpi/sens... blows my mind how anyone can become remotely consistent. Never knew why youd need to do 4 360s with one mouse swipe to each their own i suppose.

it's the same as grips really. It just feels more conformable for certain people.
Yeah, different sensitivities and grips for different folk. High sensitivity is difficult for palm grippers while low sensitivity is just annoyingly slow for claw and fingertip grippers.

I forced myself to go from fingertip to palm. Took 2 weeks but it was worth it. I like the style much better.

?????

Most people on this site really dont care about sensitivity much. Hey use what feels ok. Cs players just happen to be nuts about perfection. Habits of the trade.

Sensitivity is sensitivity regardless of the game. What are you trying to accomplish? I could play sc2 with a trackball if my mouse broke. Since you need to be less precise in an rts you can probably afford a higher dpi/sens which will also let you get around the map quicker without moving your entire arm.
