HP DV6000 Hard Drive problem - Page 3

Thread Starter
so my friend's Dell recovery disc was able to see the hard drive and format it and install windows vista

unfortunately it's Home Basic , and i needed Home Premium

so after installation everything was fine, I intended to upgrade to to home premium (have retail disc)

that was no go, blue screen and all, so I tried again with Home Premium disc

now this time, i can see the hard drive and all the options....

currently installing Windows Vista Home Premium. i hope it work out

ok here's what i think it is, HP preinstalled vista with some kind of hard drive lock that prevents itself from being seen in a vista installation environment (just a guess)

Wouldn't surprise me. Laptop manufacturers are really snooty about people modding their computers.

Sorry I couldn't be much help.
