Are these temps right?

Thread Starter
After a good hard day of overclocking im a little concerned about my temps.

My 2600K is @ 4.0ghz w/ 1.160V stable on prime95 blend test.

During the blend test temps reach the 95-100C range, but thats under 100% load.

I keep RealTemp running from start up and the temps that it show range from 40C - 60C if i'm gaming.
Keep in mind this is on stock cooler.

My only problem is that my motherboard bios reads the temps at around 65-70C with 0% load...

Which one can I trust? RealTemp or the BIOS?

Right off the bat I can tell you those temps. are horrible. You seriously need better cooling. You should be aiming for a max. of 80C at full load.

Its a stock fan bro. Can't really expect much.
Besides. Not one program on my PC will ever use 100%.

Ambient is like 25C and all my case fans are running at max rpm, so yeah I understand that my temps should be a bit better.

Well, running at those temps. could degrade your chip. I'd recommend if you got a cheap air cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ or the Scythe Mugen 2 since then you'd have much better temperatures and the ability to over-clock higher.

Stock fan should keep you in the low to mid 80s.

I concur with all of LOL_Wut_Axel's points completely, but given your Antec 1200's airflow, you SHOULD be getting lower temps regardless. Reseat your cooler tighter with less thermal paste, I'm just spit balling but you should be max load @ about 15-20 degrees less.

Regardless, just get a Hyper 212 or Xigmatek Gaia.

The 2500k I'm working on right now is MAXING @ 63degrees Celcius with a Xiggy Gaia ($29 free shipping) at 4.5ghz with 1.31volts and it's basically silent.

Alright thanks, Ill reseat it. I wasn't really worrying about it because I was planning on getting WC within the month.
Going to get w 360 rads and use them both for the CPU until next month when I get my GPU blocks and attach them to the second 360.

sound like you should reseat your stock cooler, there's no way 2600k can reach 100s at 23C ambient.
