New Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3 Pictures - Page 3

Can anyone say whether or not any Z68 boards will come out with a an output on the mobo to send data to the monitor. That is what I am hoping for as I don't game.

If you dont game, then all you need is a H61-67 board

Is that not the board that doesn't overclock? I am an overclocker but not a gamer so if I have to get aboard that does not provide an Int graphics output it will most likely be The Asus P67 pro. I am after a board with lots of power phases (12) that will overclock a 2500K to 4.5Ghz and will operate without a GPU if that is possible

I can get by on a next to nothing rig and have been advised on that issue more than once....but I don't want to. I want something popular that will hold value and be easy to resell as I upgrade often

I didnt account for overclocking outside of the gaming sphere, sorry..

The "H" boards arent able to overclock the CPU, but the "Z" boards will most likely come at a premium cost...

Do you transcode video? Will you be interested in the "Quick-sync" feature of the Second Gen CPU's?

Actually I use my rig for surfing the net (here mostly), trading stock on a streaming platform, downloading bluray movies from NZB site and of course processing them....I don't suppose that would be considered transcoding? I store the blurays on 6 tb of drive space and stream the movies to flat screen TVs via Cat 6 cable.

I know I don't "need" a kick ass rig,but I am an enthusiast and I just like having a nice updated rig.....but I don't really need or want a GPU since neither gaming or watching movies on the PC monitor is what I do...streaming is my choice for watching blurays.

I thought the Z68 mobo would allow me to skip the GPU and hook the monitor directly to the mobo..no? Also it would still give me the option to use a GPU if I need one in the future. Am I misunderstanding all of this?

It is supposed to...

If i've read correctly, the z68 chipset allows you to access the iGPU "through" your GPU for transcoding and such, while still keeping the GPU separate so as not to impede the GPU during games...

I've never "transcoded" before, and am probably not the best person to be giving you advice!

Forgive me for being dense, but you're saying that I will need a GPU card with the Z68 in order to make use of the Int. Graphics? I can't just go straight to Integrated and no add in card?

There should be boards that will have a VGA port (at a minimum), integrated in the I/O shield, just not this board in particular

Apparently, the Gigabyte Z68 boards won't support Intel Quicksync. Really is a fail for gigabyte. Why bother even releasing Z68 if there is no QS support?
