Vertex 3 boot time - is this normal? - Page 3

Ok, so I reinstalled my nvidia driver and it now loads at 31 secs, no more black screen before desktop comes up. Still not sure if this is the normal boot time for vertex 3 as some have said vertex 2 does 12 secs. But 31 secs is definitely a LOT better than 70 secs

Does CPU speed have anything to do with boot time? I haven't done any overclocking yet.

31 seconds for the total now?(To Desktop) If so, that is much much better, yes. The biggest part of it now is probably POST'ing and initializing everything, before the SSD even comes into play. That time will vary greatly between motherboards and cannot really be improved. I'd do a manual count of the time it takes from first seeing the windows logo to when you can see your full desktop and icons. That is the time the SSD will improve.

36 seconds to desktop with my VelociRaptor 300GB. That's with my RAID 0 array initialization screen during post. Not bad for a mechanical drive.

I would imagine your SSD should be doing much better than it is..

Alright, I can't seem to get it less than 30 secs. It always takes about 19 secs once it gets to the Windows logo, even in safe mode. I've updated my BIOS also and that didn't help.

FIXED!

I had to reinstall Windows 7. Not exactly sure but my guess is some drivers did not install correctly, possibly corrupted registry...

My suggestion to others is to restart EACH time you are asked to when installing drivers and don't just keep installing. My hunch is that might have been my problem.

Boot time is now 13 seconds!

My Bios and overclock settings take 28-30 seconds.
My OS takes 8-10 seconds.
