Thinking about picking up this LED IPS LG monitor..

Does anyone know how good LG IPS LED monitors are? I can't seem to find any reviews for it. It would be for 50% web and email and 50% gaming....

Thanks..

well it is pretty cheap, although LED is gimmick. I'd pick up the u2211h from Dell personally.

From the research i've done, it is the same panel as Dell's U2311 but with LED back lighting and less features and the stand isn't as sturdy or as adjustable. The LED backlighting is supposed to cause inconsistent lighting and color reproduction while the CCFL lighting in Dell's makes a more uniform picture.

Right now the U2311 is only $20 more on Dell's website. Id go for the dell.

I've read somewhere I can't remember where, but it was saying that the Dell U2311 is actually a 6bit IPS panel with differing to make it 8 bit, so its not a true 100% IPS panel can anyone confirm that?
I was looking at this today in Microcenter.
I ended up getting a 24" Asus.

Personally, I can't ever see spending the extra change for IPS unless I was doing some serious photo/video work and needed the color accuracy.

Gaming and web surfing require no such accuracy imho.

edit:

Yes, I've used IPS monitors. I mess with 27" and 30" dell Ultrasharps all day long deploying new workstation systems for Target Corporate.

It's true that it uses a 6-bit panel. And so does the LG. They are the same panel. What this means is that the monitor has to use dithering to make the remaining color range that cannot be reproduced in 6-bits.

The Dell is a higher quality monitor.

it isn't a true IPS panel no, it is classified as eIPS which has a lower color (still wide) gamut. It still kicks any tn panel in the but in terms of color accuracy. Comparing it to TN (I've compared it to two) is comparing night and day. Gaming for me is a much better experience. The stand and features are truly amazing,. True IPS panels are SIPS panels, but they cost $1000+
