I buy game at best buy. It depends on where I'm at really. If I'm closer to bestbuy then well I go there. If anywhere else I go there.

I like the tournament idea but I really don't think bestbuy would allow that. I could be wrong.

I actually do occasionally buy games at Best Buy. It's usually because people have given me gift certificates for my birthday/Christmas/etc. Sometimes the prices of newer games there don't vary much from online stores, especially when considering the shipping charge. As for suggestions. . . I would like to see people who specifically play PC games working (probably won't need as many, but still). I get somewhat disappointed when talking to an employee about a game and they have no idea how PC gaming works (i.e. servers, hardware, graphics settings, installation and patches, etc.), and they just state "well, I only play on XBox, so... yeah," and "what's a driver?"

Former BBY/Geek Squad employee here. I agree. The markup on some of the stuff in the store is highway robbery.

OP: I've never really been an idea man, so I can't help you out with this one. However, BBY's business model is flawed and a lot of people turn away because of how overpriced a lot of stuff is. I don't think you are going to get a lot of traffic in the store, period, unless the business model changes.

I used to work at Best buy..and ill be honest..i hated the place after about a month..and prior to that i always wanted to work there..but, it wasn't fun...im a natural born seller...and quite good at it..but after a while it seemed as though management was on my ass even more to sell psps and geek setups..and in many cases the setup is a waste of money, and the service plans don't always yield customer satisfaction. And, i've been to my local best buy about 9 times over the last few months and no one in the computer section approaches me or asks me if i need help..but, they decide to walk by me and ask one of the other gentlemen...umm..is it my shoes? Perhaps they dont think I have money..anyway, i hate that place...ppl there, including some techs dont know a lot..

My biggest issue is the justification for selling a 8800 card for the same price of a gtx470. I don't go into must best buys because I know more than them and im still a newb. The other issue is the lack of support. Best buy can't help with problems that arise with the newest tech. Its one thing to know how products stack up (product knowledge) its another to be able to fix it too. The corporation as a hole just bends in the reeds "buy windows ME, its the best". Newegg may be the same way with selling whatever floats down the pipe, but at least its cheaper.

Tremendous number of trolls. I thought that maybe people could not complain about the place for a single thread and offer me up some ideas. As I said in the OP, I know all of you aren't the biggest fans of the place, but any ideas that would help the gaming section improve certainly couldn't hurt, whereas insulting Geek Squad and Best Buy for being businesses helps absolutely no one.

Geek Squad and Best Buy appeal to a certain type of people, which comprises, by far, the largest segment of the population. We are not the norm. People bring in computers to me every day that have a virus on them that I can remove in under 5 minutes, but even if I tell them that, they don't want to remove it themselves, they want me to do it. Getting so pissed off about other people spending their money so they don't have to work on their own computers is childish, and annoying, and worst of all, not helpful.
