What kind of PC could max out Halo CE during 2001-2002? - Page 2

yeah a consistent 30+fps would have probably required a 2.5-3Ghz P4 and gpu with 256 memory or something

My athlon 64 2.6ghz ran it easily maxed anyway biggrin.gif

I can tell you, I remember perfectly!

I had a Celeron 800 with 256mb ram and a 64Mb Geforce 4 MX440 PCI, it ran that game like a champ at 1024x768, I remember it would chug a bit at 1280x1024 though, which was absolute max for me at the time.

Edit: Hmm maybe my standards were a little off at the time, i'm remembering it was actually pretty bad now that I'm talking to my buddy about it.

LOL I was goin to say I think the Minimum CPU requirements were a 733mhz or something and a 32mb GPU. But the game really needed much more to be maxed out @ that res ^ and play smoothly

It was the so called "specular" setting that was the performance killer with that game.

I couldnt even play it with my Athlon 2100xp and MX4 Geforce thing. It was horrible

i dont remember what my computer was exactly, i think it was a p4 =x it was a high end system for its time (worth crap now) it ran things really smooth though..

i had a weir problem though.

even with all the graphics on high settings, whenever i used the invisibility cloak, it didnt show the avatars as completely invisible(like a klingon warship when it makes ripples) but rather just lowered the opacity. you could still see the color of the avatar, just very faintly.

it gave me an edge in multiplayer though, i could see other players easier than the normal game would allow tongue.gif

Yeah the true camo effect could only be seen with ati cards but there was a hack to allow nvidia cards to do it too.
