Is it possible instead of buying a hard drive made specifically for the xbox, to use a standard F3 1tb and format it with the Xbox system?

Doesnt the xbox use 2.5 hd's ?

I have no idea have not messed with an xbox in over a year.

Maybe, I've seen them in pics and they look just like any old HDD, just want to save some money over buying a 250 GB for $99

You would have to mount it externally. It would also need flashing with special firmware, your Xbox must be J-tagged too. Other than that, yeah you can. Reason being Xbox only recognizes up to 250GB
