can't stable i7 920 @ 4.0 - Page 5

There's our problem

You need to set timings to 9-9-9-24

that's why you're crashing lol
Try setting those timings and 180 base clock of 1.25volts

edit: damn, I was beaten

you can see the RAM here?

this is the RAM i have:

hmm this is weird..try lowering your CPU PLL voltage to 1.7 if you can..

edit: its a CAS9 kit so set your timings to 9-9-924 at 1.65v as prescribed on the kit..

With your memory adjusted you should have much better luck with your OC. Try the settings I gave you again.

ok I used all your settings except for QPI Link cuz the lowest for me is around 7000, LinX froze after 3 minutes. Im gonna up the CPU voltage back to 1.375, if it stabilizes I can lower it back down slowly

Can you post up a screenshot of your bios with the QPI link field open to show the options?

Use 21x instead of 20x CPU ratio
then BCLK should be @ 191 for 4009 Mhz
i7 920 doesn't like 20x.

Vcore shouldn't be above 1.35 for 4 Ghz
QPI max 1.30 (no need to go higher with 1600 Mhz memory)
IOC ICH leave at auto
Vram Ok 1.66
Set the lowest figure QPI link speed (not the "Lowest in the bios) should be around 3200 Mhz

LinX for 20 minutes and no crashing

QPI

k I changed the ratio to 21 and 191 clock. Lowered the voltage to 1.35 and looks stable so far, if all goes well I'm gonna leave it on overnight running prime95 Blend mode

thanks for all the help guys! this is way more time consuming than I thought lol. I will report back tomorrow.
