Really bad Heaven score with new eyefinity & 6970 - Page 2

You have some other problem going on then I think.

If overclocking the video card results in no gains something is limiting its power in the first place.

Ya but what? I have a brand new PSU and it is supposed to be a good one. Brand new Ram, and the entire computer is only 3 weeks old.

Age has nothing to do with it.

Something in your system is slowing down the data being transferred from CPU to GPU.

Maybe a stock 2600K can't compete with a stock 6 core?

There's something amiss here, but it's most likely hardware related.

cpu isn't going to have much if any affect on Heaven, its gonna be purely gpu bound.

Start checking things like if your PCIE slot is running at x16.

Something is wrong though I don't know what it is. What about at 1080p, what do you get for a score?

Best to ask on the ATI forum as you'll get a lot greater knowledge base with more users browsing it.

In CPUID it does say x16 for PCIe. Nto sure what else to check. It has the 11.3 drivers in it as well. MSI could not help me other than to say their testers said that eyefinity will signicicantly reduce performance.

My score is listed in my original post which is 407. Before with the one monitor a 40" LCD HDTV at 1920x1080 it scored 1079. How could I lose more than half the performance of the card?

I dont know where to even begin to trouble shoot this.

Black ops plays fine in eyefinity. I can still get around 60FPS with frame sync on. When I am in the chopper gunner cam it will drop as low as 36 but it is stable around 36-39fps. Then back on the ground it is right above 50 FPS. With Vsync off it will go as high as 90 FPS. This is not much different than it was with just the 40" HDTV. The difference there was it would stay at 90fps pretty much the entire time with vsync off on the 40" TV. Th eperformance just didnt drop to unplayable levels is all.

Just cause 2 will barely hit 30FPS with res turned down to 4880x 900 and most everything turned to low or off. It would stay pretty stable at 60 with the one 40" TV before with everything set to High. Certain scenes it would dip to 45FPS. JC2 is just more graphics intensive though.

I check in GPUZ and it says Bus was at 16x. I ran Heaven again at 1920x1080 and got 1087 score. I then tried it at 1600x900 since it wouldnt let me do it at 1680x1050 and I got 826 score with 16x Anistropy on.

Not sure what this all means. Could speed step be hindering me. Asus said it acts like the Quite and Cool setting in the AMD boards which I have heard hurts performance.

I increased GPU clocks to 950/1450 and in 1920x1080 it didnt kick the score up much. It only hit 1120. So less than a 40 point increase.
