Sounds about right. Leaking the information probably increased apples sales if anything.
We have a separate thread for Foxconn suicides. This article is explicitly about theft of design specs, in which the worker SHOULD be punished to the full extent of the law. Per OCN's rules, please keep your discussion on topic please.

Again, it is not up to Apple to tell Foxconn how they should take care of their own workers. It is not up to Apple to determine Foxconn's ergonomics policies and procedures. Foxconn is going to meet minimum requirements to maximize revenue. Again, if you want to point your finger at someone, point it at their government that doesn't take care of its citizens.

Hindsight is 20/20. The fact that Apple may find out later that the design leaks helped increase revenues does NOT change the fact that theft had still been committed. If you steal, you get punished. In certain countries, if you steal you get your hands cut off. Funny how I don't see anyone complaining about those countries. Sad fact is, people on this forum react the way they do because it DOES have to do with Apple.

Specs are specs. Differentiating between different specs is simply semantics.

2. That's like saying killing yourself so your family collects your insurance (hypothetical since I don't think insurance covers it) is ok because your job isn't great. Your life has to suck, an unimaginable amount for someone to even consider that. It appears theirs did.

In those countries, it is always about your family. I have friends and co-workers who's families paid extortion prices to get out of their countries on freighters meant to ship livestock. Again, if you want to complain, complain about their countries.

3. If you saw what I quoted, it was about breaking an employment contract. If I break an employment contract I get fired. Didn't mention NDAs or theft.

That is off topic and irrelevant to this thread. If you want to express your frustrations about breaking contracts, please start your own thread instead of filling up another thread with off topic discussion.

4. I do know how their side of the world works. That's why I don't buy people who use this cheap labor as often as I can. I buy from fair trade businesses as much as possible. So, yes I get to sit on my high horse since I actually contribute to an honest wage for their work. This is Apple's fault for exploiting that country's labor practices for their bottom line. Same applies to any corp. that does this.

Good for you. That is your choice as a consumer. Now keep your discussions in the future on topic per OCN rules.

That's all I'll say in this thread.
Addressed for you.

OC'ing Noob, thank you for saying what I have been trying unsuccessfully to say. It may be OT but when people jump into a thread with assumptions like the anti Foxcon statements early in this thread I feel its worth trying.

As if the leek, I can think of several ways it would hurt Apple, foxcon or their partners. Covers and shields are very popular for Ipads. Getting the specs early would let competitors get ahead in that market. There are also the companies that made SciPhone (the java "clone" of the iphone) that are hard at work making something that looks just like the i2pad right now.

And, as has been mentioned, these employees signed an NDA as part of their contracts. Perhaps that agreement along with their contract require prosecution in such cases.

So my point is, in relation to the OP article, how is this Foxcons fault? Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Specs are specs, it doesn't matter if it's dimensions, parts, manufacturing requirements, pricing, etc. It's part of a NDA and they leaked it. Time to go bye-bye to jail. Do not pass go, do not collect your 11 dollars for the day.

Agreed!! +Rep for having sense and for once, properly addressing misinformation and garbage spewed out by anti Apple haters.

On Topic: They get what they deserve, you break an NDA, you pay the price.... Simple
