Yrden (sorry don't know the spells names, the trap spell) is so cheap. Place one near your enemy, renders them defenseless, instant death even for heavy armored enemies due to heavy combos.

Thanks for the advice but I have never turned it on. I believe there must be an Nvidia driver issue relating to the gtx295. Anyone else using my card? What kind of fps are you getting?

The 295 can be finicky with drivers, so whatever you're running would be great! Might have to wait for another driver update later this month.. -sigh- Still haven't played the game at ALL and its coming up on 3 weeks

Ubersampling with vsync is awesome... Decided to try uber again, usually stays within 40-60fps... but sometimes dips into the 20's... big change from 80-170fps without uber and vsync... GPU temps stay around 45-50 degrees C; afterburner shows basically full gpu usage on both gpus...

that beats other games like dragon age, mass effect, fable, pretty much every other recent PC RPG.

Amazing from a developer that was pretty much unknown prior to this release.
Unknown to OCN maybe, but CDP has had a huge following since TW. A lot of their fanbase is Polish/Swedish/or of otherwise Nordic ancestry. Sapkowski is the most popular fantasy author in Poland, man. If any of you guys are interested in the source material, check out The Last Wish - it's a book of short stories that center around Geralt.

it's actually a very well known game. in fact the game is a national pride in Poland - their president personally gave Obama a copy of the collector's edition of witcher 2 during his tour of europe

a huge following? TW1 sold around 1.5 million copies, probably more since. Which is pretty good. Thats not huge. Huge following would be what you see behind other franchises like fallout, mass effect, dragon age, elder scrolls. Established Franchises that people buy like candy. Well known in poland is like being unknown to the rest of the world.

CDPR did not have the backing like those studios do. Where you have widespread recognition throughout the world. 90% of the population has no idea who CDPR is. Until now.

For them to pull out 400,000 first week sales on the PC absolutely crushes what other RPGs have done on the PC recently, it just goes to show that the system is still viable and bigger than originally thought.

I say all this, and i was one of the people that bought the original witcher about a week after it was released. They have created a game that is going down in the history book of gaming, and they deserve it. I look forward to everything they release, and thank them for introducing me to the witcher world.

Statements like that is why the rest of the world looks down on America. CDP Red is the most successful dev. studio in Polish history. They made a lot of money and a lot of cred. on The Witcher, which is how they were able to sink so much time into developing the Red Engine and then the game. Not only that, Andrezej Sapkowski has been the most successful Fantasy author in Poland long before CDP Red adapted his material into their game. America had no idea who he was (and pretty much still doesn't, sadly), but that hardly means that he hasn't enjoyed massive success. America is not the center of the world.

Point being, The Witcher 2 didn't come out of nowhere. The Witcher was a lot more lucrative than you seem to think, albeit not in this country. Its been a massively successful IP for years. Not so much in America, but like you said, that's changing now.

CDP is a small fry, small enough they couldnt self publish the game, they brough Atari in. Poland is only the 34th largest country, thats not huge, and its not small.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_selling_books

i dont see the witcher anywhere on there.

The series, and the games are a success, not massive, but they deserve to be. And hopefully they will one day be.

You admit yourself, that a Dev with 2 games under their belt has become the nations most successful game studio with 1.7 million copies of the original witcher under its belt. The game was a success but not a massive success. Same for CDPR.

The are not a big dog, but they have the chance to be now. After the xbox release and success of the witcher on it. I think that CDPR might be able to self publish their games around the world.

Just stating the facts. I'm not putting the nation, the studio, or Writer down. I love the books, that i have been able to read, i love the games, and i love their saugage?(quick someone else name something polish for me).

Its like me saying my favorite band Dispatch is a massive success. They were a big success, but not massive.

Lol @ the Wikipedia link. I said that Andrezj Sapkowski is the #1 selling fantasy author in POLAND. You just linked a list to the top selling books OF ALL TIME. Dude, this is a stupid, semantic argument. You think that CDPR wasn't much before TW2, I disagree. The end.

p.s. - it's "sausage."
