Yea, I want to know this also. I found so many mutagens and I only found one usable place. The items are a bit out of whack as I said before.

Meh, I didn't find them much useful. There are very few abilities where you can put them, and they aren't that much game changers overall. If you really want to use them, you should consider to sell the lesser ones and (usually also) the medium ones, while using only the greater ones. Some of them like the greater vitality one (+10 vitality) are moderately useful but still nothing important.

That is what I mean by out of whack. Why even bother having the lesser and medium ones in the game? They could have made another town or area in that time. If you have like 3 spots to use them might as well just make only a hand full of greater ones.

I get the feeling that if we got a bigger map we might get a lot of copy and pasting of environment textures, rocks, and trees. I happen to notice that stuff and it bugs me in games. It is the one reason why I couldn't stand Fallout 3 for more then 5 minutes, every subway had the same poster, garbage can, and looked the same. So yes, I obviously want a more free roaming and bigger game just like you...just not at the cost of detail. I would like them to make the item crafting more valuable and make things more expensive in the store when they are the best items...make us work for it a little.
Nor do I. I wouldn't suggest expanding upon the game at the expense of quality. TW2 is one of the most beautiful game worlds I've ever inhabited - I wouldn't trade that for any amount of length. But what makes you think that CDPR couldn't do more with what they've got? They built the game, they built the engine - - all that I'm asking for is another helping of awesome on this plate of awesomesauce. The only sacrifice that would require is time. This isn't a group of guys who sacrifice quality for the bottom line, and I'm not even criticizing them for the shortness of the game. Building an RPG engine and then a game that debuted as a PC exclusive is a pretty hefty feat when you're a company with only 1 major release under your belt, but for The Witcher 3, for example, I'm hoping that already having the engine and the character models and& will give the devs an opportunity to create a much broader experience. That's what fan feedback is all about. How else they gonna know what we want?

the have already stated that instead of DLC, that they will be doing Expansions to continue the story. They said specifically that DLC is not the route they want to take, because they want to craft long high quality stories that move the main plot along, not small DLC side stories, which will be released as free content at a later date. Expect expansions from them.

Its not going to be 4 years before we get more. its gonna 1.

They're not really useless, but the system is a bit borked. Anything < Greater mutagens are vendor trash. Stacking Crit % mutagens is my favorite way to go, but you only really see the benefit of that if you take one path to the end. Otherwise you only get 3 or 4 mutation slots

Studying the CPU usage graph while gaming tells me that this game is coded to use only 2 cores/threads, and that these two can easily be tapped out in some areas, even with an i7 at 4.0GHz or more.

Town/Camp areas, where there's a lot of NPC's, seems to be the worst for FPS drops, which logically correlates to a heavy CPU load. There's probably lots of AI involved with 'operating' all the people, and there's also a lot of torches/fires in these areas. From what I understand, creating fire involves a lot of CPU power in order to do the calculations involved in making it (and its smoke) realistic-looking.

OTOH, strangely enough, I get pretty poor GPU usage when running Ubersampling as well, even though the FPS is at an abysmal 20fps when I turn it on Perhaps that's actually a bottleneck elsewhere though, such as with my card's memory bandwidth, as that would manifest itself in a very similar way to a CPU BN.
I have GPU usage drops as well but no cpu bottleneck. It uses all 4 of my cores and averages around 50-55% cpu usage.

I have not tried the game since the release, I'm hoping the latest drivers and patches fixed the gpu usage so my second play through will go more smoothly.

I'm kind of shocked how long you guys are saying it took you to beat TW1, it seems so short compared to me... I got like almost 80 hours of out of the first Witcher... and I've already spent more than most of you are saying on just Chapter 1 of Witcher 2, and a decent amount of time in Chapter 2 so far... I don't think the game will take me close to the first one, but I foresee longer than what most other's are saying... haha and no, I'm not dying constantly. (wanted to get that in there before someone tried to say it)

I tend to get a good amount of time out of games, I explorer every inch I possibly can. So far I'm happy with the length of TW2 considering the over-all quality of the whole game.

I went through the whole game without ever figuring out what the heck the mutagens do.. No matter what I tried I could not use them.

Anyone care to enlighten me?
