Just lower your settings just a tad, you'll get over 60FPS.

because my 3gb handles the game really well! average 55-60 fps... and i am not even in sli (i have uber sampling disabled though)

On a single 1080p monitor there is 1 FPS gain from 1.5GB to 3.0GB VRAM, even in VRAM intensive games as it's not effectively being utilized.

It's only in multiple monitor set ups where VRAM is king and makes a difference when it's spread across three screens and memory is being used heavily.

Here is your proof. proof.gif

I lowered several settings just to see If I could get around 60FPS. Game does not look as good, but when getting 60FPS the game just feel more fluid and are much more enjoyable...

I've found my best settings for maintaining a constant 60FPS in this game...

I have 26 inch LCD which has a native resolution of 1920x1200. I selected 1600x1024 from the games menu, which is still 16:10.. Then I sat the image to not scale in Nvidia control panel. This way I get crisp image quality with only small black bars on the sides.

Also disabled SSAO and of course Uber Sampling. Everything else on max. This gives me a constant 60FPS.

If going for 1920x1200 I have to disable too many settings, which destroys the experience.

BTW: This game puts my GTX 570 under enormous stress eek.gif It is insanely GPU demanding. The card is heating up like never before, and I've made a custom fan profile in MSI Afterburner to try and keep ut under 80c. Fan spins upwards to 75% in order to keep the card at 75 -77c. Totally sick eek.gif

I had 0 problems playing without ubersampling with perfect framerates on a single card, 60FPS most of the time. But I wasn't content with my IQ so I picked up another 580 to run Ubersampling and some other games I own with full IQ.

Worth every penny. The Witcher 2 looks amazing in all it's ubersampledeness.

Totally agree, 6970 cfx owner here. Totally agree.
Über requires a 6950 cfx min, otherwise you're really not playing well.
Even when my cards are 1000mhz I see lag at times, bet the 580s are better though.

I don't even overclock my cards when in SLI but they are powerful enough to only have trouble when it's raining with ubersampling on. For some reason the GPUs just die when that happens.

That's the only bane of their power.

There is substantial control and camera lag; the auto-targeting is an utter disaster, manual targeting is tedious, and needing to select targets at all is almost too stupid to believe, considering how well the first game worked without it; all attacks are fully committed, with no ability to stop what you are doing; the finishing moves, that you cannot chose not to do, frequently leave you in a compromising position; and Gearalt is generally much less responsive than in the previous game. Combat is more challenging and difficult, not because of any improvement to enemy tactics/AI (which is as idiotic as ever, but because your ability to control the character you are playing has been crippled.

I definitely agree with some of your points and I have been a little disappointed with it too, but it sure looks great! Here are some things that might help:
  • For some reason, you need at least 45-50fps minimum to avoid the camera and other lag. Other games are perfectly playable at 30fps, but not TW2. I was at 35-50fps and there was very annoying lag. Disabling SSAO got me to 50-70fps and it's smooth now.
  • The 2.0 patch improves *some* of the combat and other difficulties.

I also don't like the lack of precise control in the game. The saving graces are the graphics and story line.

My only complaint from the game is that it is like Mass Effect, not very diverse environments.. 3 different environments and theres your Witcher 2.

I do like the combat - its a lot like Batman AA, the only thing I dislike is the lack of diverse environments (as complained above )

I pretty much unfortunately have no desire to pick this game up again since I reformatted and lost all of my progress, because I forgot to back up the saves. Unless your saves are stored on their online servers, which I doubt.

it's a lot of fun redoing the game and choosing different paths!
