I just beat the game for the first time.

Here are my only complaints about the game:

- I felt like the choices you made in the game were not clear enough. I suppose thats kind of a plus at the same time because it makes the game mysterious, but you don't always know if you are doing the right thing. I also wonder how much these choices really affect the game. The only way to figure this out will probably be to play it over.

- Story was a lot to take in and very complicated ( I thought, maybe I'm slow ). Literally so many characters, locations, ect ect. Kind of reminds me of "Game of Thrones" lol.

Has anyone here actually ran through a second time already some how? I can imagine huge differences in the story for so many different choices you make. Most specifically I'm talking near the final ending of the game.

I'd love to hear others thoughts on that. Mainly that's just nitpicks though, the game was BEYOND all my expectations and one of the best games I've played since Fallout 3. Over all I would put this up there with one of the best single player games ever, top 10 for sure.

You forget the first game focused on mutants and mages able to teleport and travel back in time. The grandmaster was essentially the leader of salamandra so he had access to the witcher secrets that was stolen at the start of the game. He could have easily modified it to change his own body so he wouldn't be recognized when he goes back in time.

I mean really.. mages that can teleport and make themselves look like other people ( Azar changing to that detective for example ), I'd think changing hair and eye color would be child's play.

The game was designed so that you wouldnt know what the best thing to do is, just as in real life your actions can have unintended consequences, and you have to live with them, which is why they put the consequences of your actions hours from when you made them, so you can just go back and pick something else.

The story was meant to be complicated, as things in real life are, There is no simple good or bad, lots of shades of gray, and sometimes those are what you have to live with. ALong with characters, they were designed to have thier own motivations, not based on good or evil, but based on their beliefs. Creating a much more believeable person. Just as in real life, you dont always know their motivations at the start when you meet them, and you can only make a decision based on what you know at the time. Nothing ruins political stories like making things simple, because they rarely are.

The game has 4 different beginnings and 16 different endings.

Yeah the story is quite a bit to take in, They need to hurry and translate all the books into English so we can sort it all out! Ive read The Witcher and Blood of Elves , i think there are quite a few more books with the 3rd being released in English sometime this year

That's the point Doomdash; moral ambiguity, no paragon or renegade metre, just shades of grey and differing points of view. IIRC, whether you choose Roche or Iorveth effects later locations. I chose Iorveth.

I love that. I don't know what game of thrones is, but I like that the world is complex and the story. This ones a bit subjective as a complaint, depends on taste.

My points in red.

Gotten up to chapter II, chose Iorveth because he's going straight to upper..Aed..something.

If you payed close attention to your interactions with Alvin and the story that involves him, you'll see that a lot of the things the grandmaster tells you at the end of the game is pretty much the same as the dialogue you chose when you speak with him in chapter 3/4 ( Especially 4 where he follows you around ). Not to mention the grandmaster wears the same amulet as Alvin and they're both powerful mages.
I did notice all the clues (though I didn't realize until now that all the people summoned in the end-game dream sequence had had a direct connection to both Alvin and Geralt--had they been Geralt's thoughts alone, he would have probably summoned other people) but I imagined that the lack of actual proof + that they've never confirmed it meant that they wanted to leave it open for interpretation.

Yeah you know that's kind of why I said it's also a plus. I can respect this very much. Just hard to accept as a person who wants everything neatly wrapped up in a bow I suppose .

I bolded the last part because I am curious what you mean by the 4 different beginnings? Is this witcher 1 game save specific?

i dont know exactly. The devs specifically said 4 beginnings and 16 endings. The beginnings i would assume are based on your choices made at the start of the game, along with possibly being imported from the first game saves.

I prefer a story that isnt all tied up nicely, because it always leaves you thinking about it. They did it in the first game also, been thinking about all the little things about it since i beat it years ago.

Game of Thrones is a new series on HBO based on the books. Pretty sick good but like Witcher 2 is rather complicated.
