Picking out a case for first build.

Thread Starter
I wanted to get the raidmax smilodon because i dig the look and green leds or the Storm Scout but realized that they wouldn't fit a 6950. My budget is 100$, cooling/airflow are my first priority, aesthetics second. I narrowed my search to a few cases, need to know how they compare to each other, cons and pros, anyway here are my choices so far:

Cooler Master 690 II Basic/Advanced - 69/81 $

HAF 922 - 81$

Storm Sniper - 120$

Storm Enforcer - 81$ its probably the closest thing to a scout i can find although some say its not worth the price.

Feel free to throw in other cases into suggestion.

Go for the CM690II basic or advanced. They are cheap in price and thats it! The build quality is great! case looks good IMO. All of the Free Flow sections of the case have a screen to help with dust(Side note:use a dust filter for ALL intake fans, regaurdless of case). It will fit a massive Videocard with ease. Plenty of room for a large cooler(like sivler arrow/D-14). case is easy to work with for a first time build aswell, wire management is great too! I like the HDD bays are turned 90 degree's aswell nice touch

The main reason I chose this case is air flow! CM690II had 120mm fan mounts all the way around. this is great becouse there are more 120mm fans than anyother size, making picking up a replacement fan easy, you also get more choice between CFM/noise ratio's in the 120mm fan department. This case also has plenty of place's to stick fans, so you can play with flow and use what works best for your hardware set up hope this helps

Just wanted to say, all the case's you listed are tried and true case's with great reputations. regaurdless of choice youll like any of them I think.

If you can get another $9, you might like the NZXT Tempest EVO.

Somewhere between mid/full tower like the CM690II, but has much better cooling and cable management options. Also has fully toolless installation for HDD's and Disc drives.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146062

There's another similar option, which is my case, the Lancool K62, or K58W.

Respectively,

The 690 is fine by me, if you like a case with the structural integrity of a coke can.

NZXT Tempest is a very high quality case, not enough people vouch for it these days.

The Lian Lis looks a lot like the 690, love the side window. I'm planning on installing cathodes so clear side panels are a plus. I saw somewhere a windowed panel for the 690, apparently not found on newegg or any canadian retailer site i looked on.
The tempest looks nice but a little common for a NZXT case, and is only available in a cameo finish on canada's newegg, rather pricey too.http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...Tpk=tempest%60
And how does the haf 922 compare to the cooler master 690II.

I disagree with the comment about the 690II being poorly built its solid. I was refuring to the tempest being ugly as sin...not bulid quality....

Check amazon.com or google search, CM store has it aswell. You can also make your won side window out of the existing sidepannel, use lexan, U channel molding, and 3m dubble sidded tape verry easy to do, pretty cheap aswell. The 922 is about on par with the 690II pending on what your looking for. When I had my Antec 900, I was torn between the 690II and the HAF..clad I chose the 690II The onlything bad I can say about the 922 is the non standerd fan size, but this is a minor compalint youll like witch ever you chose out of the two I think.

I have an antec 900. It's a nice case. 2 120mm fans in front. One 120 on side and one in back. And a 200mm on top. I have a gtx 570 and it never gets above 35 degrees. Y u think it's bad. Actually I did replace all the fans.

My brother has the 690II and its really a great case lost of room for its size, good space for cable management, and excellent airflow.
