Samsung Spinpoint F3 firmware update boot cd - For those that need it.

Hi all,

A few days ago i created this boot CD ISO for another OC.Net member and thought i might as well make a thread for it in case anyone else needs it on this forum or manages to find it through Google.

The boot CD contains the firmware update for the Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ as well as other popular models. The boot CD has been created using 'The Ultimate Boot CD' and the firmware files are located in the fix directory on the CD.

Good luck.

**Update**
The Boot CD has now been reduced in size and a few extra firmware files have been added.
F3.exe = (HD323HJ / HD502HJ / HD503HI / HD103SJ / HD105SI)
F3eg.exe = (HD153WI / HD203WI)

Anyone know if NOT installing this firmware update can damage a drive?
I ran 2 of these drives on an AMD-970-based motherboard for 2 days.
Everything seemed fine till I shut the computer off today (for the first time), then on restart one of the drives wasn't recognized by the BIOS.
Had to reset (without turning computer off) to get it recognized.
After a few shutdowns, it started SMART failing on "Spin-up Time" value (value was "1").
Then (while I was finding this fix) Windows reported the drive was failing and I should backup my files.

Well both drives have upgraded firmware now, but since the errors got progressively worse, I'm guessing _something_ has been changed inside the drive.
Any thoughts?

Thanks a lot to jackbrennan2008 for posting this. Really cool.
