i52500K P8P67 new system annoying me

Hi there ,

I have a very strange question.

I just got this new setup two months ago >

ASUS P8P67 with the i5 2500K , and I just started from scratch and resetted everything, BIOS OS ... Funny enough this board seems to be giving me some headaches. I am getting a very high pitched sound coming directly from the CPU socket (or it immediate area) , I am wondering why this is.

When I start up the computer is isn't noticeable but , when in idle windows , the sound coming from the case is very apparent. When I hold my ear against the bottom of the board (while in the case) I hear a very annoying high pitched sound. Now I figure it's the CPU cause when I click on a large application to load , like photoshop CS 5 , the sound temporarily disappears , while the program loads up, hinting it's the CPU that is acting weird.

I once had this phenomenon before , but mingled around the P8P67 Power management setting on the DIGI+ and VRM settings and managed to get rid of it , not sure what is causing it and would LOVE to know if any with this setup is having this issue ?

Thank you

no no no not GPU i replaced it and tried again . It's the CPU socket or directly around it.
But get this , I just overclocked and the high pitch sound is gone , went from 34 stock to 40 X , any explanation would be awesome ...

Hi Honsbeek, I have the same P8P67 2500K setup, I too have this high pitch whine. Can I ask what you did if you can remember in the BIOS to get this to stop? It drives the hell out of me.

Thanks in Advance!
