Lower than expected benchmarking scores. - 580

Thread Starter
I built this build I have in my sig in the first few weeks of april, and have been satisfied with the performance in games. I have zero problems with that. But I've noticed when I run benchmarks, such as Vantage, 3dmark 11, etc, I get low scores, sometimes getting lower with each run.

I don't oc the GPU, mainly because I'm wary of hurting a $500 video card due to my in-experience in that area.

I'm not at home right now, so I can't immediately bring up any GPU or benchmarking screen shots, but I can tell you from memory.

Vantage, the best run I've gotten is 28,000.

Heaven 2.5 with all settings cranked up, just barely breaks 1,000, consistently scoring in the high 900s.

I do the usual turning off of un-needed programs before benchmarking, so I'm baffled by the low scores, or are they spot on for my system. I keep feeling like something is wrong with my card, maybe.

28,000 at stock is pretty good I think, is your cpu at stock?

With a single 470 @ 930 core (i5 at 5Ghz) I only get like 23k gpu, so your score doesn't seem that far off.

Edit: Best thing to do is to go here: http://www.overclock.net/benchmarkin...re-discussion/

Start running benchmarks at the same settings and compare your results to others, its the best way to figure out where you sit.

Thanks! I remember you, you're one of the reasons I got my 580. ^^

I'll see if I can get away with running a bench or two via logmein.

Here is a 570 overclocked to 900 core:

You look good to me, overclock it Thats why we told you to get the DCII

See what you can get stable without adjusting voltage.

Does that score reflect your sli, or just one of your video cards?

Son of a...

28k in Vantage is better than I get @ 850 core. I get around 27k.

Is it possible that a Sandy Bridge at stock is faster than my 950 @ 4GHz?

EDIT: I was talking about 27k GPU only score.

Nah its not mine, mine is quite a bit higher since I have two cards

It's a GTX 570 which is one step below yours with a decent overclock.

I'm not sure, but its quite possible because of turbo and vantage being dual threaded.

I tried ninja editing. Didn't know he was talking about entire Vantage score.

I get 27k in GPU only.
