Thread Starter
Hey I'm kinda new and just signed up here and wna see if I can get the most out of my 1st PC build. I want to know how far I can OC my CPU without frying it up even though with the CPU cooler installed.

Just raise the clock and check stability for 10-20mins with prime95 every time you raise it.

If it's unstable then up the voltage by a notch or two.

Stay under your max temp/voltage and nothing can really go wrong.

Once you reach your temp limit put it through 12hours of prime95 to make sure it's stable.

If it's still unstable then you can either up the voltage some more (as long as you are under your voltage limit and the change won't bring you over your temp limit.) or you can bring the clock down a notch.

You should at least get to something near 4GHz.

Also look around the forum for guides on overclocking the i7. There are a lot of step-by-step guides around.
