Best CPU for unpacking/decoding BD?

Wait for SB-E 6 core or go bait with Ã* 990X? Is the new SB worth the wait over the 990? Both seem to be within the same pricerange. Thoughts?

If you can afford it the 990x is the best right now, or Failing that the 2600k is very powerfull and at it's price point.

Or yes wait for the new cpu's, the new high end sbe cpu's will be priced with a premium, My opinion is best bang for buck right now is the 2600k

Just wondering, is your 2600k @ 4.8 not fast enough?

If they are in the same price range, I would definitely get SB-E, as there is no real point getting 990x unless you already have an X58 board

Another choice if you can find any is software can use your gpu to do the work. I know they haves for encoding movies using gpus not sure about decoding tho.

Wait then, because a 2600k at 5.2GHz is going to rival a 980x without extreme cooling.

Dual Xeon is an option but for the price/performance you'll just be left disappointed.

Stick with the 2600k, and get a z68 when it comes out.

No, seriously.

Quick sync will be your friend here. This is what the graphics core on sandy bridge specifically designed to do.
