6870 vs 460 and my motherboard - Page 2

i live in england and the 6870 hawk twin frozer 3 is going for £150 and its version of the twin frozer 2 for £177
the 5850 XFX version is for £145 but then the prices jump to £180 dont know why
personlly i prefer the 6870 hawk as its the same price and seems to be more future proof than the 5850 and i love the look of the hawk and twin frozer cooler

Go with the 6870 then. It's a good card after all.

so final decision is to go for the 6870 over the 460?
im surprised by that since all of u have the 460 lol
i like physx and think it would be better to go for that
im soo confused...

Well, it really depends on who you ask. I got my 460 because I did my build without much knowledge (but with the help of lots of OCN members). I think the 460 was cheaper back then, don't know about now.

Some people say the 460 and 6870 are neck to neck when overclocked to their limits, while others disagree and favor one over the other.

I like Nvidia for their driver support, CUDA and perhaps their Physx. And yeah, the GTX 460 was awesome when it came out. It's still good but it's on pair with the Radeon HD 6850 and 5850. The 6870 delivers better performance in general, and is not bad for the price.

seem the 6870 is the better option then but how does it compare to the gtx 560 twin frozer 2/OC which is for £190?
