A consumer grade 'router' is actually a 3 in 1 device consisting of router, switch and wireless access point. There are two ways to daisy chain multiple routers together, a 'proper' way which will net the most performance, and a crappy way which will cause lots of problems.

Hopefully you did not chain them together using the WAN ports.
