Wait, are you talking about Norton or Malwarebytes being "second rate crap?" I think you might be a little confused. Norton is garbage compared to that "second rate crap."

edit: It would seem as though I was beaten to the punch.

Better check your facts again. This to all those that claim that Norton is second rate crap. One of the top Computer Magazines has done their article and I can only assume that, being who they are, have gone through the necessary testing to get the results. PC World. Oh and gee would you look at that? No Malwarebytes on the list. Now, I am not one to shove dirt into someones face and I am not going to do so now. Malwarebytes has a time and place. And its free. Fortunatley for the OP Norton has done its job and blocked the attack.
Now if Malwarebytes was so awesome why is it that none of the Internet Service Providers offer it with a subscrition to their services? Yes I know that its already free. Comcast offers Norton and At&T offers Macaffe. However, I have heard rumor that AT&T will be going back to Norton.
You can argue all you want about how Norton is not worth it. But reviews do not lie. After all that what everyone looks at before making a purchase. Thats what you look at before buying a new PSU(usually Corsair). Now why would you go against it now on something so important like your own computer security?
For Free I have no doubt that it is sufficient. But lets look at that for a moment as well.

Now there four other sites listing the top Free Antivirus programs. Now whill all of them have different rankings for the various programs, again I do not see Malwarebytes anywhere in the lists.

Multiple reviews. Flame me if you want, but like I said, please check your facts.

Norton is bloated, runs like crap, slows down your pc and free AVG finds more viruses and can do more with viruses it finds then norton...and avg is crap. I have seen Norton find a virus, and not be able to delete it. I have seen a pc scan done on norton and find NADA, then run AVG and find hundreds. Most people say norton is crap, well, because they have seen how bad it is. Why pay $60 for norton when there are better, completely free programs? That in itself makes norton 2nd rate crap.

I think you need to look-up the differences between what is classified as a "virus" and what "malware" encompasses. You should also research how the "effectiveness" of virus detection software is measured.

Oh, and AT&T and Comcast or whoever else you mentioned bundle Norton because they get paid handsomely to.

See? I can do that too:

Going a little off topic.

I'd say that Norton has done it's job.

yep... using it since it came free with my comcast subscription...

i ran malwarebytes and it seems like everything is a ok....

on a sidenote... norton is somewhat a resource hog, but doesn't seem to bad? atleast to me it doesn't

especially since i have the suite that comes with everything .... plus it's free, i just have to pay the overpriced internet subscription smile.gif

Not true, they can stretch the truth. I have seen reviews for games, films and devices that make out the item is amazing and everything, only to find out its crap - dont reviewers get PAID to do reviews? if so couldnt they get PAID to write good reviews even if the item isnt that good
