Well you can always get SRH 840's for TEH DUBSTEP!

OP is gaming and AD700 is amazing for that "application".

You should be looking at Ultrasones in my opinion. The Shure's won't have the wow kind of bass you're looking for and require amping. The HD555s won't have any bass at all. Ultrasones have a lot of bass and a pretty good soundstage. Paired with a sound card you'll have exactly what you want.

PCIe will be around for a long time as of right now since there is no other new tech on the horizon. This way you can use the STX for a longer time and you can plug it into any free PCIe slot on your mobo, even a x16 slot. That way it will almost always fit in with your GPU even if you decide to have two graphics cards at some point down the road!

Hope this helped and good luck choosing!
PCI is not any more likely to be phased out than PCI Express is. The ST is not only a newer card but a superior card, I would pay the extra 30$ if your going to spend that much on a sound card.

I have both the hd555s and the hd650s. While I love the clarity of the 555s, it is true, they don't have a ton of base. I'm not sure I'd recommend them for dub-step. Also, I'm not sure I would mod the 555s, the 595s have a reputation for being a little... odd. I've never listened to them myself, but a lot of audiopeople don't really like the 595 sound.

Anyway, for good base around that price race, I would look at a pair of closed backs. Perhaps make a thread on headfi.com, they may be able to help you better than I.

My Ultrasone PRO 550 makes me happy.

The HD555/595 aren't really good for bass-heavy genres and aren't "fun" enough for electronic music.

Why is the ST the superior card ? Is it because of the H6 expansion card you can get with it?
