Oh yes, Recently there has been a new variant of the MAC Defender malware going around. It only recently (starting in the month of May)has been seen around.

Here is an article by Mactech if Anyone is interested in knowing more.

Also on that article, it has instructions on how to remove it, if anyone happened to have installed it.

It's a Safari vulnerability. For some reason Safari thinks it's safe and opens it on its own. You should uncheck “open safe files†in the preferences..
