Issues with 5770s.. Need assistance please =(

Thread Starter
I had a GTX 470 for a month or 2 when I first built my computer. Then when I went to buy another 470 to SLi, I found that my motherboard didnt support it, So I ended up taking the new 470 back and sold the old one and bought 2 5770's and am now crossfiring them..

Problem: I have noticed no change in performance from a single 470 to crossfired 5770s, at all, perhaps even a decrease. I run all my games at 1920x1080, and am not able to really increase my graphical settings above 'medium' on any game (Crysis2, Portal 2, Lost Planet 2, Homefront, AC: Brotherhood, Opflashpoint: Red River) without massive frame drops, from like 50 to 25-35. So I have been running my games with No AA, Reduced Shadows, and usually everything else at medium.. and generally still the games feel slow.. Especially in expansive areas. Heat is not an issues, Ive never seen them run over 80*C. Ive even used the overdrive tool to set the fans at 100% (Loud x_x) and had them real cool with no change in performance.

I know that the 5770s arent 'great' cards, but I feel like I should be able to pull a little more perfomance out of them then that.. Im wondering if I should try something or just upgrade to crossfired 6870s or one 5870 to avoid the issues involving Crossfiring..

I guess what this boils down to is..
What the hell is up with my cards and what should I upgrade to if I choose to do so on a ~$500 budget..

2 5770s are roughly the same as one 5850 or one 5870 (in games with great scaling) so it's not a surprise that you gained no performance. Not sure what you were expecting.

I would suggest a single GTX580 for max fps at 1080p!

Two 5770s are equal to a single 5870 (unless CF scaling sucks).
5870 is about as fast as a GTX 470.

What you should have done is bought two 5870s or 6870s.

You have a 1000w PSU, Whats the problem? A good 1000w PSU can run a 6990 - 6970 Tri-fire

My 5770's Maxes pretty much everything out at 1920x1080 with good fps except metro 2033. Crysis 2 I get 70+ fps consistent. Do you have the latest crossfire caps installed 11.4 cap1?
