Hello all,

I'm a newcomer to this computer building business. I do know quite a bit about computers though so I'm fairly confident about this.

I've been browsing through newegg and this is what I have so far:

Case: NZXT M59 $59.99
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146058)

Mobo: Biostar A880G+ mATX $54.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138283)

PSU: Antec TruePower 650W $79.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371021)

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 645 Propus 3.1Ghz $109.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103885)

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaw series 2x2GB DDR3 1600 $49.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231277)

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200 rpm $59.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136319)

DVD-ROM: Generic Sony (16.99)

GPU: Still searching. Would prefer AMD/ATI. But if there's a good price for performance from Nvidia, I'd be willing.

Total: $430.93

I'm on a budget of about $500-550 for just the tower. Already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse. I plan to dual boot Linux and Windows 7(already have a install disc). I'm not planning to overclock or anything major like that so no need for a major cooling solution. I also don't plan to Xfire or SLI any GPU's so no need for a regular ATX mobo.

I will be using this to do multitasking such as internet surfing/word processing plus some midlevel gaming. Nothing big or high-end like Crysis or Call of duty or Starcraft. Basically I want a good fast performing PC and the satisfaction of building it and the potential for upgrading.

Will all these parts be compatible? If you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated!

The difference of a 5850 vs 6850 is actually very small. If you don't mind higher power consumption I say it's not a half bad choice.

The power usage is actually the reason I went with the 6850 over the 5850.
It's so little!

Here's an updated version. I decided I didn't need a video card for now. I can always upgrade to one later. I also wanted a good modular PSU.

I would get rid of that power supply. It is a nice power supply but definitely over priced for only a 650 watt powersupply. This power supply has seasonic internals and is a great buy especially after the MIR. Regardless you can easily go with a lower power Antec unit and be just fine for this build.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-007-_-Product
$58.99 after MIR
