Dell Streak or Samsung GS2?

Thread Starter
Dell: Larger screen (5" vs 4.27")
Cheaper ($300 vs Probably $100-200 + data plan)

Galaxy: Better processor
Better screen (I assume, everyone's saying it's so great)

That's about it for the reasons I'd want either...it's to be my first phone and I'll use it for everything, including media playing. I need a long battery, and don't care about size too much.

Any experience? Any reason not to get the Dell Streak? It'll be an outright buy now for about $300 versus waiting for SGS2 to be released in Canada (probably September-December) and buying it for a hundred or two and signing a 3-year plan...

Advice?

I really would exaggerate the better processor, I mean its a LOT faster. Not only that the Super AMOLED Plus screen is supposed to be awesome, the original Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy S series was nice but it did have its issues but the new version is supposed to fix them and bring other improvements. Not only that, the Galaxy S2 is guaranteed to have lots of developers working on it on XDA-Developers.com which means custom roms. They will give you speed improvements all around and many will allow you to overclock your phone (and undervolt it which will also increase battery life.) I would just wait for the S2. Also the Streak is sort of dated with older hardware.

That is true, especially about the processor...but the bajillion dollar difference is making me rethink...

And also the wait...

Galaxy S II in stock in the UK, ordered mine yesterday.

Why would it take so long for a Canada / US release ?

It's cause each carrier gets a different version of the phone and each version must be developed and approved after the original is released. Look at the original galaxy s series. ATT got the captivate, t-mobile got the vibrant, Verizon got the fascinate (and the continuum), and sprint's version was the epic 4g. Hell even boost mobile got their own version (forgot the name). I really don't like the way they do this but I sort of get why.
