Completely false.. it's a cheap (price) mic that works and get the job done, why else would it be the most recommended mic on OCN? I can attest to its quality, as I'm sure many more can.

And to the OP: I know you have a lot of people telling you go logitech, but it's really not the best idea.

So what do you suggest? Sennheiser + Clip on mic?

I wouldn't. I have had it and it's kind of a pain. Any Sennheiser needs some really good source to make it sound good.

I would vote for any closed headphones so you don't have to hear the crap around you and has a mic attached so you don't have to worry about silly cables. I think I will stay with my clip on mic, but my Sennheisers are saved for when I am just lisening to music at work.

Ok well Chucklez I'm pretty sure you should go with the Razer Carcharias. They will sound great and be cheaper than the Tritton. But I know how you love your orange so blue might not be for you. lol

P.S- Razer Megalodon is where its at

I think you can't go wrong with HD555s or the AD700s, IMO they will beat anything logitech offers.

I went from Logitech G35s to some Razor Carcharias and then to my 595s. The 595s blow them out of the water, I will never buy a gaming headset again. You hear this a lot from people switching over from headsets to headphones.

do yourself a favor and skip the entire 'gaming headset' genre. get a decent set of headphones and a lapel or desk mic. for the next upgrade down the line you'll want to improve your source; look into a decent sound card. as far as headphones go, it's a very subjective thing. i've been using HD280's for the past 4 years and have been very happy with them but many people consider them 'too neutral'. just an example of how opinions can vary. i'm currently looking for a new set of headphones just to switch up - time for a change.

if you'd like to knock everything out right now and absolutely must stay within your $100 budget, i'll take a wag at it and recommend this off the cuff:

+ + = $78.70 before tax/shipping and should sound infinitely better than any gaming headset.

But would that be ok without a sound card for a while? I might be able to get a sound card in a few weeks but until then I would have to deal without.
