Follow the guide, and the Mic works just fine.
Seriously, Razer, Logitech, Tritton?!

Also, Chucklez, stop mistaking good advice for trolling, Simca can help out alot in these threads.
And for the love of god, you better be trolling with Beats by Dre.

Once again I never said anything was better then anything... No need to put words in my mouth man. Also no need to troll in a simple thread. All I stated was I got the most recommends for the Logitech right then.

But its ok trolls will be trolls<3

Yes both the 555s and the AD700s will do fine without a sound card, I'm running my 595s through onboard and they still sound great; definitely a big improvement from my razors and well worth my money IMO.

I`ve heard the AD700`s are a bit lacking in the bass department, but from your experience how do they sound?
I would go with AD700s. Great sound stage and for the price are extremely hard to beat when it comes to gaming. I would go with that and then later on once you get a little bit more $$ get a Asus DG sound card. Great value for a good entry level sound card. They don't have the greatest of bass, but if gaming only it has enough bass.

The bass is not bad IMO, but it definitely is weaker compared to other headphones. Personally though, I haven't found it an issue.

Disclaimer: A lot of my music revolves around piano and jazz, which was never bass-centric in the first place, soo...

Another +1 here. My AD700s sound great on my laptop, esp compared to my previous headphones. A sound card would help, but you'd notice a quality improvement even without one.

I'm not mistaking anything from trolling I will quote every thing he/she said and in this thread it did not help one bit. All he/she did was call me a troll, then troll me, then quote my name. Obvious help ain't it?

Also I said this before on why I mentioned the Beats by Dr.Dre but I guess I have to mention it more then once for people who dont read eh? I mentioned them because someone suggested the Astro A40's with mix amp and I said I would love to but I do not need something that expansive or extravagant like that or the Beats which are very expensive.

Well I might as well stop this here and say I will either go with the Logitech suggested or the HD555's with clip on mic. Probably the HD555's since apparently I'm trolling if I don't go with them but whatever. Thanks for the help I guess guys...

Razer Orca + Zalman Mic

Calm down.

You're new to audio, so you're not even sure why I said you were trolling. Your response is predictable, which is why I'm bothering to explain it to you so you'll see why others understand, but you don't.

You are the owner of HD555s, so with that, there is some expectation that you were guided towards those headphones already. We're sort of expecting you to understand that you'll receive the largest performance booster gaming wise from a sound card which you never bothered to buy, yet you're so quick to jump aboard the Logitech headset route. You're stepping DOWN in quality going that route and it will never beat a headphone+sound card option which is what the ~enlightened people~ in this thread have been trying to drive you towards.

There's nothing fancy or extravagant about Dr. Dre's Beats. Expensive is the only thing to really label it. When you bring up something like that, it's a joke really. It's like buying a pair of Lady Gaga slippers for 1000 dollars because you think Lady Gaga has class and knows what comfortable slippers are when you could simply buy a REALLY high quality pair of slipper for a fraction of that price.

You already own the headphones you need.

All you need is a proper sound card to go with them, particularly a gaming sound card if that's what you're wanting to do with the headphones.

Get a Titanium HD. Those Logitechs are in no way superior to the HD555s except maybe in bass and looks if you like that sort of thing?

Anyway. Go forth, yee newly enlightened one and buy what thou hast commanded.

Obey Simca.

Alright, I was a bit confused to why you two were even arguing and now I think I understand.

Simca, you're getting the OP (Chucklez) mixed up with the other poster MClouse. Clouse is the one who made the statement about the Logitechs blowing the 555's out of the water, not Chucklez. Which I do agree is an invalid comment. Chucklez just thought it was a good choice because of the amount of people that recommended them.

Seems like a simple misunderstanding of who said what.

I have all the following headphones:

Retired: ATH-AD500, HD595, HD201, 3H, K601 (All Dead, Blew Them Out).
Used: HD555 (Modded), GRADO GS1000I.

I can tell you a soundcard with a good set of headphones or speaks is fantastic, my zalman mic picks up everything I say and its behind my 32" LED which I use as a monitor (thats a good 3-4 feet away). However it really depends what your doing and weather super (damn near) crystal clear audio is what your after.

Most audiophile grand headphones have better soundscape then any so called gaming headset (7.1, 5.1 headsets are a joke), you just have to peer them with a quality soundcard (which in most cases for headphones is a STX because of the built in amp and mod-ability).

Since you don't have a soundcard I'd say just stick with headsets, don't bother with tritton cause they are overpriced and uncomfortable, I get given them for free on a constant basis to test and give them away.

Astro A40 have nice sound quality for a headset and are comfortable to boot but make sure you get the version with the mixamp because it makes a world of difference.

I haven't tried them but my guildies love the Razer Megalodons, so they must be doing something right with them.

Although listen to the people in the thread telling you to just get a quality set of audiophile grade headphones, a soundcard and a stand-alone mic, if you like your sound quality that is the best way to go.

And don't worry about starting off with high quality goods, start at the base line quality and if you think you enjoy the quality it gives you can upgrade again later down the track.

Not everyone here is like me that will have $2000 headphones, however I did get them free from a mate that upgraded to DENON AH-D7000 so I got very lucky ^_^
