HAF 922 + Corsair H50

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
Does the airflow in this diagram look good? I want to put a Corsair H50 in a Cooler Master HAF 922.
On this diagram, there will be a 200mm intake on the right, a 120mm intake on the bottom, a 120mm intake on the top, another 120mm intake on the top with the H50 radiator in a push/pull, and a 120mm outtake on the left, and a 200mm (red circle_ outtake on the side panel.
This seems like it will create a slightly positive pressure and still provide good airflow since the fans on the bottom right should direct the air to the upper left.
Does this look good/do you have any suggestions?

I'd do push/pull out of the case for the h50, you would just be pulling warm air into the case with h50 going in

The diagram is great because the H50 is far better as intake. I did a test beween intake and outtake.

4.3GHz Vcore 1.36 Prime95 small FFT

80c = Intake (Single Fan)

85c = Outtake (Single Fan)

Top fans - exhaust
Rear Fan - Exhaust
Front Fan - Intake
Bottom Fan - Intake
Side Panel fan - Intake

Remember that Hot air rises and by having the top fans set to intake you disrupt the natural flow. I have seen some of the guys here in the forums put the H50/60/70 Rad in the 5.25" drive bays. This way they are still getting cold air from the outside yet still keeping the airflow right in the case. And by having the Side panel fan set to intake you are bringing fresh air in to the GPU area to help keep them cooler. The method I have described above will offer the best airflow for a cool case interior.

Hot air dose not rise when fans are put into the mix...go play with hair dryer. I use a top intake with stunning results. If there where no case fans involved then yes, hot air would rise.
@ OP I would leave it the way it is..or mod the cooler so the rad can be placed on the outside of the case.. I would also remove PCI slot covers and flip your side exhaust fan to an intake, just to see what temps are like. this is close to what I have, only diff is I blocked off one of the top intake's(the one on the left in your pic) I have some pretty sweet temps when testing 4.0Ghz at 1.550Vcore. also adding a second fan on the back of the HDD cage pointing air at the GPU helpd drop my GPU temps by alot.

This is pretty much right, guys. Hot air rises, but the effect is not terribly strong inside a computer case with directed airflow. Even low-speed 700 RPM fans will completely negate the tendency of hot air to rise inside a chassis.

My temperatures jumped a bit with top on intake. Have my h70 on the rear as exhaust. Slightly warmer CPU temps but with that much intake temps inside the case should remain relatively cool. Other an that pretty muc the same as mine is set up.

I put my side fan as intake to blow over the graphics card. It seems to help with temperatures there.
