Hmmm, a fast computer....

I once drove at 150km/h home with the computer in the trunk, I suppose that's fast.

Now if you meant a decent computer that can run games for a person who doesn't overclock, your build log is fine.

She doesn't have to know about overclocking to enjoy it, does she? She apparently doesn't care about OCing, and that's perfectly fine. He doesn't have to force it down her throat.

That's like saying you can only buy a fast car if are a mechanical engineer.

Your build is nearly perfect for the situation.

Stay with a quad core CPU as you have selected. The Core i3 Sandy Bridge is great, and has Hyper-threading, but for lasting five years and with gaming in mind, the extra dollars for the quad core CPU are well worth the investment. You don't want to buy a dual core CPU now if gaming and lasting five years are the goals. My dual core CPU is more than fine for me for now, but I wouldn't buy a dual core CPU, Hyper-threading or not, if I was buying something right now.

Per the video card, go with the 1GB variant if you go with the GeForce GTX 460. The 768MB variant is good too, and if you can find a super deal on it (which do show up), then it's arguably worth saving the money there.
