Windows optimizing questions?

Thread Starter
Just a few simple questions with windows:

Does changes made to in one user account effect the others, regarding indexing, paging, services, and power options?

I have an vista gateway that has a failed hdd. The comp came with a sys repair disk and I have the product key. If I replace the hdd will I be able to install windows with the sys disk, or will I need to download vista?

Is using windows classic desktop the same as closing performance/areo visuals?

How do I change the default font in ms word?

I have been trying to get HWmonitor and fold@home to start when I log into my profile. They just wont work in there. Any suggestions?

Do you have a OEM pc?
Vista is bloated. Stripe it down first by using vlite. it will run smooth as a babys bottom. Don't think the repair disk is a installation. Its more like a boot sector and system repair if I'm not mistaken.

How would I know if its OEM? I was planning on selling the computer, so I wasnt to worried about slimming vista down. I didnt think the disk is an installation, myself. So I how would I get vista on the new drive?

then its a OEM. There should be sticker under it or on the side with the key on. Now just download the vista OEM version and install it and you can use your key again. Remember it has to be the OEM version otherwise your key won't work.

I use Process Lasso for some time and it helps. Applications, thanks also to defragged hard disk are much more responsive even with many apps installed and open.

What is most important is that I do not use any antivirus programm. I go to trusted sites only and use ubuntu to scan files
