Yup , but the post-unlock TDP is too high - 125 will fry the new MB which can support only 95W.
I will stop aiming for the cheapest , but instead on a CPU that is more likely to unlock from dual to quad with L3 cache. The only candidates for that are the 210E , 215 and 220 from the Athlon II family and the other two are the Regor 5000+ and the 5200+ , though the 5000+ with a specific stepping code can only unlock. After looking at some benchmarks of a Sempron 140/145/150 , they dont seem really better than the ones i have right now. Also i couldn't find in CPUWORLD any comparisons for the Athlon II x2 440/445/450. They are just simply missing from the charts as a dualcored , the only 440/445/450 models are shown as x3 ( mistake in the spreadsheet or in their site ? ). Is there any info for older CPU's ( K8 family ) that can be unlocked ?
EDIT: Looking at the locked/unlocked comparison charts at cpubenchmark , it seems that 140/145/150 are just a bit above the LE-1640 and a way below the 5050e , unlocked they are just a bit over the 5050e. Then if i compare the 5200+ and the 220 , the unlocked versions are still pretty close , but the 220 is better than the 5200+ , same with the unlocked versions. Now i managed to filter which are performance good , now the last question is , which has the highest unlocking
EDIT2 : Also please add a note for the Athlon II 220 - those with stepping code CACAC AC can unlock ( Duban based ) , those with NAEGC AE are not unlockable - Regor based. Dunno for the CACEC AC , didn't found any info.Edited by ku4eto - 10/27/13 at 1:32pm
