Windows 7 Logitech Pointer Speed Issues

Thread Starter
For some reason, whenever I first load into Windows, the mouse pointer speed for my Logitech G5 is ridiculously fast. It only corrects itself once I open up the Logitech SetPoint software and change the sensitivty to something else and then change it back to what I want and exit the program.

SetPoint is set to start upon Windows startup, and I've tried it both with the software controlling the pointer speed as well as Windows and the same issue crops up.

Any ideas?

set point is trash. uninstall it. For me, it would always recheck "enhance pointer precision" on restart.

So what you have to do is install setpoint, configure your mouse and then uninstall. All the logitech garbage has onboard memory so you don't need the drivers installed to keep your settings.

I need it to map the buttons differently for games, so uninstalling is not really an option. I never had this problem with Vista or XP, so I presume it to be a Windows 7 issue?

Does it change anything locally on the mouse.. i.e. the profiles 1 through 5, does the sensitivity multiply on all of the profiles? If you flick from one to the other it might reset..

I've had this problem on a number of occasions.

The problem is that the Setpoint software doesn't always start with windows. You either need to backup/reinstall the driver and make sure it runs like it should, or manually put it into the Startup folder. The latter ends up being trickier because there are for some reason like 3 different shortcuts in the Logitech folders for the Setpoint program, sometimes certain ones throw errors on startup.

You know, I never noticed. I'll have to check that out! I can live with it if the fix is that simple...

I assumed it was starting with Windows since the icon appeared in my tray. Is that not the case?

I think I may have misunderstood your OP.

Is this a new problem, or has it always happened?

If always, then it's probably because the profile switcher isn't set to automatically switch with application detection. If you manually switch profiles then it will just go to whatever the default is when windows loads in.

I have my Setpoint to switch profiles automatically based on the program. It also helps to disable the Windows pointer management in Setpoint (forget what it's called exactly). My G700 uses a different Setpoint UI than the G5 (I used to have the original G5).

At present it is a clean Windows 7 installation and the issues started from the first install of SetPoint.
