Friend gets 1090T Over Intel 2500K - Page 6

My cousin thinks his computer is better than mine because his has 6 cores. Some people just don't educate themselves before making a purchase.

You've made a good choice switching to the 2500k especially if you can get both of them for a same price.

There's nothing wrong with making mistakes. It doesn't make you an "idiot". Nobody starts out knowing everything, and we all make huge mistakes. It's all part of learning. I've made mistakes to the extent of breaking parts to learn what I know now. Be lucky/thankful you learned beforehand (or at all even, some never do seem to learn).

For your dilemma, the Sandy Bridge will be better for gaming, so if that is your goal, and they cost the same, go with it. The Phenom II wouldn't have necessarily been a "bad" choice by any means, however.

Oh, and welcome to overclock.net!

In the interest of being petty should you run a suite of benchmarks on both computers so you can wave your electronic superiority in his face. It kind of seems like something the gang from Its Always Sunny would do, and if anyone should be a role-model of our behavior it is the gang from Paddy's.

I still own the PII 955 BE, i brought it when is still $300, and is the 1st gen chip, it still run perfectly fine on everything i throw at...

I think your friend made a bad choice.

Bulldozer is only 1 months away, is very bad idea to build a new rig now.

I choose AMD 3 yrs ago is because of the price vs the intel one, and i mostly use my rig for gaming only (1080P anime if that counts XD)

so AMD was the best choice for me

and like other people said, His Money his decision. like BMW vs Benz

He didn't have and AM3+ board he bought a board that was AM3 no + so he couldn't get the new generation of chips. But he is making the right choice for going to Intel hell get the best priceerformance ratio The Bulldozer will be 100$ more then the 2500 probably. Also 3 years ago it was a very smart idea but now its not a great decision...

It's alright man, everyone makes mistakes and honestly yours isn't that big of a deal. It would be a moderate performance upgrade, but you will still have a good system.

...depending on what graphics card you chose.

Yeah, one of the best price/performance video cards there is right now.

I'm pretty sure he just wants it because he thinks a hexa core will be better than a quad core.
