But you have "IBM i7 2600K" listed in your sig rig. You also explain that you have "overclocked" your monitor to 120hz.

I am so confused right now. So confused.

I wanna overclock my monitor frown.gif

A friend of mine thinks his 1055T is better than my i7 920, since my i7 is an "old" chip, and is only a quad-core.

I ran SuperPi with his 1055T @ 3.6 GHz, and clocked my i7 down to 2.8GHz. Lulz happened.

Incidentally, he's no longer my friend.

superpi is always biased toward intel, that's why it's separated for both Intel and AMD chips, the results are drastically different.

I can remember just a couple years ago constantly hearing the same thing about the E8400 and how if you're gaming, dual-core is the way to go.

Well, guess what y'all -- gaming takes full advantage of quad cores now, and it's only a matter of time until they take advantage of hexacores. His decision makes sense from a future-proofing perspective. In addition, who knows how he will use his computer in six months / one year / two year's time?

To one is there own, I highly doubt he will even be able to tell a diffrence from a pure gaming standpoint. the 6 core is not a bad choice, sure the 2500k would of been a "better" choice but who cares.

that is true, it is pretty much current games favor intel cpus due to it not being ready for six cores yet.

look at Q6600, that processor is damn future-resistant as processors go as people picked faster dual cores over it, yet when quad-core optimized games came around, the Q6600 shined there.
