Budget Gaming/College Build - Page 3

Agreed. I would like to go even lower ($400ish?) but I feel like I'll take a significant drop in performance? Also, *would* it be bad to use the case's power supply? If so I'll find a new case. Would using a case with a built-in fan be noob-like, too?

I really appreciate all your help by the way. If it matters, you've gained a lot of rep!

NP, happy to help

As for the PSU that comes with the case...I'd avoid it like the plague. Don't know enough about it but figuring it's a cheapie. I'd go with the Antec Earthwatts recommended earlier.

And for a $400 system, you would be taking a decent hit in performance. What is the current price, lets see what we can shave off

Nothing wrong with using the fans that come with cases. They will likely be poor when it comes to noise/performance but they will work just fine.

Those are absolutely great price per performance products, but unfortunately I think it's a bit too pricey for the OP.

Yeah, you might be right... It's just amazing power, you know?

I would've saved some more money just to get those components

Can't decide between cases... I'd like to go NZXT, as they have great customer service. It's between:

NZXT GAMMA Classic Series

NZXT Apollo Black

The first one comes with fans, so I wouldn't have to worry about cooling. It's taken care of. (The reviews seem favorable to the included fans.)

The second, I don't think it does. I'm kinda up in the air.

Are you currently a student of any kind, or do you know someone that is? You should be able to pick up windows 7 for much less than $100 from Microsoft if so...

Not sure if you have to be at uni or not in US.
