I know he wasn't.

I just re-read my post. *People shouldn't hate because some of us have more money to spend, and are ok with spending more to get the best performance we can get.

I wanted a 1090T originally, but I was ok with spending more to get a better platform overall.

To pretty much give an unbiased view, if you want to spend less than ~USD$200 on a CPU, its AMD all of the way unless you want SLI or CFX, in which case you'd be better off going for a higher end Intel.

If you want to spend over USD$200 on a CPU? Intel all the way at the moment. (Nb: For AUD the prices are a tad higher, but its still similar)

If you include motherboard prices into the mix, they're practically the same for P67 vs 890X/GX/FX, its only X58 that has higher prices.

I'll admit it was mine(much apologies for that Chunky),though I was pointing out the reason for a $30 price difference between the Intel 32nm chip and the AMD 45nm chip.

then here is the price stepping:

Intel Core i5 2500-$209.00

Intel Core i5 2500K-$225.00, ($16 for an unlocked multi)

Intel Core i7 2600-$299.00, ($74 for a 100MHz speed increase and no unlocked multi)

Intel Core i7 2600K-$325.00, ($26 for a unlocked multi)

The point I was making was that Intel plays the exact same game, and both have been doing it since their conception (well almost).

It was never a comparison of performance or apples to oranges. You stated that it wasn't worth it, ok I agree with you but that is two people out of a tiny 5% of an industry that really doesn't give a direct stuff about us enthusiasts.
Just a correction: you forgot something - the i2600 is not "$74 for a 100MHz speed increase and no unlocked multi".

However even him missed something: the i7 2600 has 2MB L3 extra cache, for a total of 8MB.

So, in fact, you are paying $74 for 100 Mhz extra, Hyperthreading and an extra 2MB L3. Sounds acceptable. You can argue not everybody will see the benefit of Hyperthreading, but to some it's a huge boost, worth many dollars out of that $74, the extra 100Mhz is obviously benefiting everybody, but also obviously something you could get by overclocking yourself. The 2MB of extra L3 is something that will benefit most people.

I know Intel is not a saint and does the same thing whenever it can, but the point in this moment and time is that AMD is doing that as if they actually could. And the point is, they really don't have the performance to match the pricetag of a 980BE. But the main point really is that the 955BE or 965BE are waaaaay better deals for the reasons I explained. And it's true, some people will just buy it because they can. Yes, we do agree on that.

I thought that I mentioned that in my responding post, I also said that HT will benefit some and not others.

I didn't notice that.

But as I said you would have to be crazy to buy an AMD top end at the moment, that is if you are buying a complete new system. But then again you would be crazy to not hold onto the cash because of how close the BD is .

Don't go QQ'ing that the clock for clock isn't even. Clock for clock doesn't matter when the Intel CPU has stronger cores.
No you are not telling the truth. Look at your own links carefully. i5 760 is better in almost all cases against 965BE.

You should look carefully at those benchmarks because sometimes a lower score means better performance. i5 760 and i7 860 are clear winners in those benchmarks

EDIT: And against 980BE, i5 760 win in more tests
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/362?vs=191

So, it is even better than the fastest AMD quad core.
